I was told the data was unretrievable and decided to take it to another place near Fry's in North Austin. Bastrop computers lost my laptop charger and gave me an old one for a much smaller and less powerful laptop. The new place successfully retrieved the data after two days.
If I have any future computer problems I'll just drive the extra distance to Austin.
